The monthly meeting of the Austin Neighborhoods Council, ANC, met on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. A copy of the ANC Agenda can be found here. Over 50 neighborhoods representatives were present.  The agenda included a status/update on the Comprehensive Plan.  Greg Guernsey, Director, City Planning Development and Review along with Garner Stoll, Comprehensive Plan Manager, spoke on the Comprehensive Plan and “Meeting in A Box.”  “MIAB” is an effort to capture and involve everyone’s input in Austin’s Comprehensive Plan. “Meeting in A Box” involves small groups of 8-10 person discussing local neighborhood issues to be included in the Comprehensive Plan.  Garner Stoll encouraged neighborhood associations to conduct “Meetings in A Box.”  Travis County Precinct 5 Constable Bruce Elfant spoke on the 2010 Census.  He stated that the 2010 Census will only have 10 questions and will count every person residing in Travis County regardless of citizenship.
A vote on “Resolution on Group Boarding Homes” sponsored by several neighborhood associations but primarily pushed by University Hills Neighborhood Association passed the ANC.  A copy of the resolution can be found here.  Another “Resolution Concerning Austin Police use of Arbitrary and Excessive force” will be voted on at the March ANC.  A copy of this resolution is attached.
