The Emergency Homeowners’ Loan Program (EHLP) was created to provide emergency mortgage assistance to homeowners who are temporarily and involuntarily unemployed or underemployed due to the economy or a medical condition and are at risk of foreclosure. EHLP provides up to $50,000 of assistance through a forgivable loan. The program is a partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and NeighborWorks America.
Due to anticipated demand, a lottery system may be used and a pre-screening application is due by July 22, 2011.
