Dear NACA Members,

We currently have an opportunity to advocate for major infrastructure upgrades to North Lamar. An initial segment has been recommended for improvement as a result of the North Lamar Corridor Study between Rundberg and Braker that adds bike lanes, medians, stormwater infrastructure, sidewalks, shade trees, and more.

We have an opportunity to voice our support for this since a comprehensive list of proposed improvements from all over Austin has just been released and is currently being reviewed by the Bond Task Force. The individuals on this task force have the task of trimming this wishlist of $1.5 billion in projects by more than two-thirds for the bond proposal we’ll be voting on in November.
Our challenge is to make sure the City and the Bond Task Force members understand how important these improvements are to NACA in terms of safety, neighborhood viability, and good transportation access and choices so that the sorely needed North Lamar improvements don’t get cut from this list. With that in mind, I have drafted a letter of resolution supporting the short-term improvements on North Lamar as they have been presented.

If NACA members approve of this letter of resolution, I will hand deliver it at the next Bond Task Force transportation sub-comittee meeting. The following website has more detailed information about the proposed improvements.

We’d love to hear from you, so please respond with your support or any concerns you may have by March 18th.  If we receive a majority of positive responses out of all NACA members who respond by March 18, the NACA board will sign the endorsement.
Feel free to write or give me a call if you have questions.
Thanks,
Gabe Rojas
