APD Blue Santa
APD is getting ready for its Blue Santa operation.  For those who are not
familiar with APD, Operation Blue Santa:
Operation Blue Santa is a 501(c)(3) – non-profit, community based
corporation, organized by the Austin Police Department, with support from
the Texas National Guard, the Austin Fire Department, Austin Water, and
Austin Energy. Each year APD provides each family it serves with a full
holiday meal and wrapped Christmas gifts for each child under age 14. APD’s
service to citizens of Austin began back in 1972 serving about 20 families;
this year it will easily serve over 3800 families. This is only possible
because of the goodwill and big hearts of Austin’s citizens, businesses, and
civic groups that support APD each year.
APD is actively seeking donations to support Operation Blue Santa.  APD will
be placing donation boxes in 4 different locations:
Summitt Elementary School
Hana World Market
Holy Vietnamese Martyrs
VACAT Office
They are collecting dry goods food (cans/boxes/packages items) and NEW toys
for both boys and girls, particularly between the ages of 0-2 and 11-14.
Please keep food and toys in separate boxes. You can also drop off donations
at any Austin Fire Department stations.
Summitt Elementary School has teamed up with APD to help accept and process
applications for assistance through Blue Santa.  For those families who need
assistance this coming holiday, they can come by:
Location: Summitt Elementary School
Date: 11/15/2013
Time: 3:30pm-6:00pm
