Announcement from Rundberg Rising:
Dear friends and community members,
We are very pleased to announce the formation of Rundberg Rising, a new sponsored project of the local non-profit, Austin Creative Alliance.
What is our mission? We aim to vitalize the visual, cultural, and environmental habitat of the Rundberg area via creative, non-violent youth and neighborhood opportunities in our north side community.
Who are we? We are a small team of committed local community members with backgrounds in the arts and arts education, community organizing, and public health.
What is our vision? We envision a diverse Rundberg community that celebrates and capitalizes on its own strengths, talents, and opportunities – where youth and residents play an integral role in ensuring our neighborhood is a beautiful, creative, safe place to live.
Why is this important? Unfortunately, violence, crime, and decay are recurring themes in the Rundberg area. Yet, the north side of town is also home to great beauty and potential – our neighborhoods are filled with diverse and creative people, amazing food, and lush natural areas. It is time to come together to strengthen our youth, celebrate our international roots, and foster a sense of pride and positivity in our Rundberg community.
How will we make this a reality? In the coming months and years, we hope to partner with local community groups, schools, and artists to catalyze community art projects in the Rundberg area by and for local youth and community members.
How can you get involved? We will need volunteers, collaborators, supporters, champions, and resources to help make our vision a reality. Please let us know if you’d like to participate in future community events. Stay tuned for next steps including a community mural, creation of a Facebook page, and a Rundberg Rising fundraising party later in 2015 at a neighborhood venue.
Please consider a tax-deductible donation to fuel our first mural project:  http://austincreativealliance.roundtablelive.org/rundberg-rising
Thank you for your support and please feel free to forward this to friends and stakeholders!
Sincerely,
