The official groundbreaking of the new Cook Elementary School and Community Park will be Friday, October 30, 2pm at the playground! Many parties are to thank for pulling together the funds, and seeing the project to completion much quicker than thought possible. You can personally thank these parties as they will be there: Councilmember Greg Casar and his office, AISD Board Trustee Ann Teich, Principal Wendy Mills, Austin Parks Foundation, and PARD staff. Councilmember Casar’s office worked to find the funding through Austin Parks Foundation. This ceremony is being planned in conjunction with the regularly scheduled Cook Spirit Day pep rally, and the students will attend. Community members are encouraged to attend as well. I personally want to be sure that our city knows how much we care about our community.
