Community Workshops on Bond Development Projects
The Capital Planning Office of the City of Austin will host four community workshops regarding the 2012 bond election. The purpose of the workshops is to allow the general public to participate in an exercise where they are allowed to choose which projects should be funded in a potential November 2012 bond election. Participants will be asked to prepare a list of projects for three different levels of funding.
The workshops will be held at the following times and locations.
•Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the First Evangelical Free Church, 4220 Monterey Oaks Blvd.•Wednesday March 21, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Gus Garcia Recreation Center, 1201 E. Rundberg Ln.•Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Dove Springs Recreation Center, 5801 Ainez Dr.•Saturday, March 31, 2012 (Time to Be Announced) at Anderson High School, 8403 Mesa Dr.Attendees should arrive at the beginning of the meeting, as the exercise lasts for the entire time allotted. Residents unable to attend may join the community’s conversation on SpeakUpAustin.org or by contacting the City through one of the several methods listed on AustinTexas.gov/BondDevelopment.
* The bond package for the November election will probably be about 400 million dollars -thats about $60 more a year in house taxes.* The 2010 bond package for transportation was 90 million, we got less than 2 million spent in our area.
* We have not been given any gaurantee that the City will include any funding for the North Lamar/Burnet Study.
