Hello City of Austin Boards & Commissions members:
Two things. FIRST, the CodeNEXT team is happy to provide the Community Character Manual to you. The Community Character Manual (CCM) focuses on cataloging and naming the physical elements that make Austin the great place it is. The goal of the CCM is to document the patterns, form, and character of each neighborhood to provide a foundation for good planning and policy decisions within the City of Austin. To achieve this, the CCM compiles the photographic documentation and analysis mapping for each of the 103 Neighborhood Reporting Areas within the City of Austin. This is an unprecedented effort to compile this type of community form and character information within the City.

SECOND, we would like to invite you to “CodeTALK: Exploring Compatibility” – a discussion on how the development community, neighborhoods, land use planners, and other Austinites view compatibility and its impact on what we care most about in our community. We’ll explore what’s working and not working with compatibility in Austin’s Land Development Code, and consider the best practices and tools used by other cities.

Please distribute to others that care about Austin.
Thanks,
Matt Dugan
