We had a really good turnout of volunteers for It’s My Park Day on Saturday, March 6th. We were lucky to get 2 deliveries of mulch and were able to spread the barky-kind in and around the picnic tables under the trees. The new trees and gardens got liberal applications of the composty-kind. We got about 35 volunteers and they got the gardens planted, trees and shrubs planted, mulch spread and the tables and benches painted with preservative (with anti-graffiti properties!).
More work is needed.
- Need an engineer and plumber to get the water connection in the park.
- Paint over graffiti on the storm sewer structure.
- Add borders on the two gardens along with more plants, etc.
By May the flower seeds should be up and blooming – we are planning a neighborhood picnic. Thanks again to all the wonderful volunteers for the good work! See you soon.
