Local North Austin community members are partnering together with students and community groups to revitalize fifteen neighborhood bridges with fresh paint and artistic murals!  We hope that you will join us to promote these fun community projects.
The North Austin Civic Association Contact Team partnered with many community groups and members (Anderson High School, Lanier High School, ​North Austin Civic Association neighborhood association, Rundberg Rising, Paint the ’58, Valero, Quail Creek Plaza, and HEB) to apply for the City of Austin’s Neighborhood Partnering Program (NPP) grant. In exchange for completing a community service project of beautifying or adding artwork to fifteen bridges and retaining walls in the NACA area, the contact team planning area will be awarded funds for an infrastructure project. We are anticipating that we will be able to add sidewalks that will help students walk safely to school. The application was approved by the NPP in January, and the Arts Commission approved the designs in February. ​This weekend, Rundberg Rising leaders, Sarah Duzinski and Caro Dubois will be leading the bridge project located at Northgate Blvd. on Colony Creek this Saturday from 9:00AM-12:00PM.  Rundberg Rising’s mission is to vitalize the visual, cultural and environmental habitat of the Rundberg area via creative, non-violent youth and neighborhood opportunities in our north side community.
Also this weekend, students from Lanier High School and Anderson High School, and other community members will be muraling a whimsical, dancing figures design by Nina S. Trujillo, a North Austin resident and Anderson High School Student on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10:00AM on two bridges on Rutland Dr., in between N. Lamar Blvd. and Mearns Meadow Blvd.
