AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Transportation will conduct a public hearing to discuss the proposed improvements on I-35 from Rundberg Lane to US 290E on Tuesday, May 3, at Bertha Sadler Means Young Women’s Leadership Academy, located at 6401 N. Hampton Drive, Austin, TX 78723.
The hearing will begin with an open house at 6 p.m. followed by a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m. A public comment session will be held after the presentation. An online public hearing will also be available from May 3 -17 at www.mobility35openhouse.com.
The purpose of the proposed project is to improve safety and mobility by addressing:

- Lane merging/weaving on the mainlanes
- Operations of the existing I-35 northbound to US 183 northbound flyover

The proposed $ 203.6 million project would add three flyovers at the I-35/US 183 interchange and improve the existing I-35 northbound to US 183 northbound flyover. In addition, the project includes rebuilding the St. Johns Avenue bridge, constructing intersection bypass lanes and U-turn bridges, building extended entrance/exit ramps, reconfiguring and improving I-35 ramps and shoulders, and improving bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Construction is partially funded by Congestion Relief Initiative funds.
